VIEWFINDER

Colorado Springs, CO
When we lose somebody close, a void is often left that feels impossible to fill. Getting trapped in tender moments from a past shared can then make us feel like a leaf that has fallen from a tree down to the forest floor, left to wither and fade away alone. In some cases, we are left to process the guilt of not having been there for a loved one. No matter the details, we all encounter grief as we move through life. There is nostalgia enshrined within loss, and it can be felt as the years pass us by, and we reflect on the memories of joy and regret in our lives spent with those no longer with us. Processing this grief is ongoing and cyclical. And sometimes, it is only with the passage of time that our wounds truly heal.
These feelings are represented on Viewfinder’s forthcoming release Forest Floor. Its narrative is a thread woven in struggle centered on heartache-of dwelling in the past and being overlooked-and of the cruel fate of losing time with someone.Â
The three-piece from Colorado Springs, Colorado comprised of Zach Bauer (vocals, guitar), Shane Beauseau (Bass) and Joey Macasero (Drums) experienced emotional and structural upheaval in the making of Forest Floor. From personnel changes and lost opportunity to a perpetual range of grief that touched all aspects of life. These emotions informed the sonic palette of every moment on Forest Floor.Â
Recorded in the summer of 2024 and produced by Corey Coffman (Gleemer), Viewfinder found themselves encouraged to express the range of emotions. The healing environment created a sense of closure and peace. On Forest Floor, Viewfinder found themselves expanding their sound and embracing their new existence-evolving from the natural penchant in the realm of indie and emo and combining that with a burgeoning taste in the realm of heavier alternative. Combined with the range and the deeply personal lyrics of Zach Bauer, Viewfinder created an affecting body of work. A heartfelt re-introduction to a band full of remorse, regret, self-love and acceptance.
