Up from the fertile soil of Kansas City’s buzzing heavy music scene, burnbarrel (featuring members of KC noisey hardcore luminaries Canyons) roll out a riff parade that is both crushing and spacious, frantic and articulate. Drawing inspiration from working-class Midwestern upbringings, burnbarrel leans into tension–pulling every sonic string as tight as it can go before snapping.
After months of writing and demoing riffs that explored new musical terrain, Canyons bandmates Bobby Johnson (also of The Ghost is Clear Records) and guitarist Dylan Pyles enlisted drummer Hayden Jensen (Littered With Arrows) and bassist Jason Newton to fill out the lineup and bring the brooding musical vision of burnbarrel to life. Less than a year into their existence, burnbarrel has already developed a seasoned signature sound: dark, textural compositions that rise to delirious peaks and plunge into lightless depths, paired with lyrical content that explores survival and resilience in a collapsing world. Currently recording their debut LP, this is a band you’ll be glad you knew about early on.
