Neptune is an experimental rock band originally formed in Boston, MA in 1994 that currently operates out of Denver, CO. The band constructs all of its instruments from scrap metal, new and recycled electronic components, hardware store sundries, and found materials, creating a singular fusion of sculpture and sound. Every sound-making device is a one-of-a-kind invention – equal parts musical tool and future artifact.
With nearly 40 releases on vinyl, cd, cdr, and cassette, Neptune has explored the outer edges of noise, rhythm, and structure, evoking their own miasma of noise rock, motorik momentum, circuit-fried atmospheres, chance operations, and bad math. Having played around 800 shows around the world, they are known for their visceral and immersive performances, often resembling a kinetic installation vs a rock band. The world they create is dense, textured, and tense — the product of machines built by hand, played with force.
